Quote from: NeuroticSarge on October 20, 2009, 06:34:38 AM... On another note,I pay £50.00 a month for our sky and broadband.In the USA,that's about $80.00. Yet again,we are being ripped off!

That's about the average for the USA as well.  Until now I was paying $100 (£61), but that was because I have the highest broadband available in my area (16Mbps).  Now I'll only be paying $70 (£43) for broadband, and still be able to watch all of my favorite shows (including premiums like HBO and Showtime).

The older I get, the more excited I get about being thrifty.  I'm not so sure that's a good thing.   ;D

Welcome to the club!

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

You also get National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, History and Eden, while for sports fans there's Sky Sports News, British Eurosport and ESPN Classic. Kids get Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Nick Jr.

You can get more channels if you front up more cash each month, as follows. (All packages include the Entertainment Pack as standard.)

    * £25 - Sky Sports 1 OR Sky Sports 2 + Sky Sports Xtra
    * £34 - Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 + Sky Sports Xtra
    * £24 - Sky Movies Screen 1 OR Screen 2
    * £32 - Sky Movies Screen 1 + Screen 2
    * £33 - One movie channel + one sports channel + Sky Sports Xtra
    * £38 - One movie channel + all sports channels, OR vice versa, + Sky Sports Xtra
    * £41 - All sports and movie channels
    * From £9 per month extra - ESPN

You can also access further movies and TV show episodes via Sky's on-demand service. Some of these will be free while others will be paid for, with prices starting at £1 for a single TV show.

If you've already got Sky, you can access on-demand content for the channels you already pay for. If you've got Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband Unlimited, you can get live channels too.

To celebrate the launch Microsoft is releasing a special bundle pack for £29.99. That gets you a three-month Gold subscription, a one month Sky Player subscription (Sky Sports Pack) and a Media Remote.

Cool. On-demand will help me catch up with the 1 TV show i actually watch, True Blood. Which i don't think i could miss unless Aliens steal me for a week.

GamerMan316

True Blood is great, i watched the first season on FX, Season 2 is on in the States, might have to watch them online instead of waiting until next year.

After watching the first few episodes, I called everyone "Sookie".

If you're interested in catching up on newer episodes, there's a website I frequent whenever I miss something.

TV-DOME.net

I'm not sure if this site only works with US ip address, but it worth a try.  The site is full of pop-ups and Adware, but my antivirus (Avast!) blocks it all.

GamerMan316

I normally use tv shack to catch up on stuff i've missed

NeuroticSarge

Didn't watch true blood,can't stand vampires or anything like that.Just dross. Nor twilight,crap.
I like dexter and burn notice and of course,NCIS.Quality! Not sure about NCIS : LA though.Jury still out.

Shame this has been delayed:

Quote from: sky.comFollowing an unpredicted technical issue at launch on Tuesday, the Sky Player on Xbox 360 service was suspended.

We would like to apologise to those who have been unable to access the service but we can assure them that Sky Player engineers are working to resolve the problem.

sambo

I brought the introduction sky offer from game last saturday.

Included was:  DVD controller
                      1 month sky entertainment package
                      1 month sky sports package
                      3 month xbox live gold

All for £15. I thought that it was a good deal. I also took out the movie package for £7. Sky movies on demand.

Now I wonder if i could just keep buying these every month? £15 pound for a month of sky plus 3 months gold would be a nice deal every month.

TaraJayne

It is a good deal but I dont really watch TV so there is no point in me getting it. I just steal....I mean borrow Box set  series off Craig :P
