A report has emerged that Project Natal is due to launch in November 2010.

MCV quotes "sources" as saying around 5 million units will be manufactured for launch. Apparently you'll be able to buy the Natal camera on its own for around £50 or perhaps even as little as £30. It will also be available as part of a hardware bundle.

The report says 14 games will go on sale alongside the new tech and points out that Activision, Bethesda, Capcom, Disney, EA, Konami, MTV, Namco Bandai, SEGA, Square Enix, THQ and Ubisoft have all signed up to produce Project Natal games. A large proportion of the early titles are expected to be first-party though. It's not known whether that'll include Lionhead's Milo and Kate.

Microsoft has yet to respond to requests for comment.

Depends how good it's gonna be, that EyeToy Pet on PS3 is supposed to be quite innovative. If it's 30 then i might just get for the sake of it, especially if some easy achieves are involved!

That's already a larger catalog than the combined support of the Wireless Microphone, Vision Camera and Big Button Pads.

That is at least encouraging.

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

I liked the look of it when it was originally shown at E3 and i'm sure it will bring a lot more people to the 360, especially if the rumoured price is true, i doubt i'll bother with it though.

Microsoft: Natal launch details 'not accurate'

While reports circulated last week that Project Natal would launch sometime in November 2010, Xbox UK boss Neil Thompson says the details were only rumors. Speaking with Eurogamer at a launch event in London for the console's new social media applications, Thompson said the rumors "weren't accurate" and claimed Microsoft has yet to determine "a lot of things" related to the launch of its new motion-sensing technology.

According to the rumors, Microsoft was set to ship around five million Project Natal units next fall, alongside 14 supporting titles at a price point that could go as low as $50 (£30). When asked about the rumored details and price, Xbox's head of Europe, Chris Lewis, jokingly added, "Now you know better than to listen to that stuff! We will announce in good time."

However, Lewis did remind Eurogamer that Microsoft is striving for "unique" and "compelling" experiences with the technology. "That has to happen and will happen," he said. As long as whatever "happens" doesn't follow Microsoft's traditional Xbox 360 peripheral pricing scheme, we'll be happy.

Devs to get Project Natal tips at Gamefest in Feb.

With Project Natal on schedule for a 2010 arrival, it's no surprise that Microsoft's annual Gamefest conference will offer programming tracks designed to get developers up to speed on how best to design for and implement the technology in their Xbox 360 games.

The tech summit, which runs from February 10 and 11 in Seattle will offer two types of Natal-themed sessions. The first, Project Natal Design, promises to help devs with "creating new ways to work, building showcase experiences, divining user intent, and designing gestures for UI versus game interactions." The second, Project Natal Technical, will "dive deep into gesture recognition, avatar retargeting, speech recognition, advanced raw stream processing, handling different player environments, and many other topics."

Avatar re-what? Advanced raw stream huh? $100 says Microsoft just hands attendees Minority Report on DVD.

Natal: Largest leap in TV since remote control
Microsoft's Marc Whitten talks big on 360's new technology...

Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox Live, says that he believes Project Natal will be "the largest leap of TV experience since the remote control".

"I don't believe we are currently in the golden age of the television or the golden age of the game console or the golden age of the internet," Whitten said at the Streaming Media West show, reports Yahoo Tech. "Frankly, five years from now I don't know that you'll be able to tell the difference between those worlds."

Whitten also sees a future where Natal does away with remote controls but not replacing them, as they're "already too hard."

"With the flick of my wrist I can change a channel," he explains. "With the power of my voice I can start a movie."

Too ambitious and far fetched for 360 or something you'd genuinely look forward to and use?
