How long do you folks think it will take before everybody comes to their senses and stops with this motion nonsense?

I give it the standard Microsoft Xbox peripheral lifespan of two months.

From a business perspective, I'd say Microsoft probably has a development & marketing future investment of at least 2 years in Kinect.  If they haven't turned a profit by the end of 2012 (and the world hasn't ended), they'll probably scrap it.

From the response I sense in my local GAME shop, And the "less" educated gamer, I believe that Kinect will be a success. My son has already mentioned it along with his new Xbox he will be getting at Xmas, And I have never talked to him about Kinect, A lot of his friends have told me about the awesomeness of it and they are only 6 or 7.
A friend of mine at work was only telling me the other day of a " New" product by Xbox called Kinect, And how it was going to change the gaming landscape, I listened for a good 10 mins on how Kinect worked, Without telling him how I knew about it over a year ago.
I think Microsoft know who they are targeting Kinect at. As long as it does not interfere with the so called "hardcore" games, then I have no problem with Kinect. I will not be buying it myself, But if my son takes a big enough interested in it then I will get it for him.

tis aimed at 7yo's then and random people in work who don't game, but like new tech.

atleast we have Reach, CoD7, MoH, Dead Space 2, Flopout: Vegas and Gears 3. The casuals can have Kinect and Fable 3  8)

Move will be more successfull and both will still sell less than the Wii.

I've cancelled my preorder so I can remain Hardcore.   :)

I'm buying it for the functionality, not the games.

But since there probably won't be any worthy games to play on it until next year, I'll probably wait and buy a used unit at that time.
