Quick questions for Failed.

With the supermarkets slashing the price of MW2 I was wondering what 'trade' price they'd be paying for a copy.  I realise they'd get a huge discount for buying thousands of copies but I was thinking what Failed pays for a copy of MW2 for his shop.

Tell me to bugger off if I'm being too nosy... :-*

Wholesalers charge about 28-32 for a game you supposed to sell for £40, if i remember rightly.

Lukehi

coolio, thanks Failed.

I was wondering just how much profit Makro (for example) would make from selling MW2 for £20.

shopto mentioned via Twitter the other week that retailers had to sell MW2 at £44.99 to make a profit

Yeh MW2 might have been shipping at closer to 38-42 with Activision being a lil' greedy.

Shops sell big games off cheaper to attract customers, most gamers tend to shop in places like Game or Gamestation rather than Makro for their games. So the buzz generated by Makro going mental and selling their copies for £20 is probably worth the publicity generated, let alone the extra trade brought in. Where as Game didn't reduce their price as they didn't need to attract customers, they already have mums buying scratched to sh*t second hand DS's for £85 ...

I miss Lukes fixes when he isnt online.

I think that retarded parents and wives will go to Game because its a shop they feel they can trust

The likes of Tesco and Asda etc can sell it cheap because most people will buy other goods whilst they are there
Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

the games are seen as "Loss Leaders", like Tara says, the supermarkets lower the prices in the hope that people will spend money on other overpriced stuff at the same time, makes perfect sense really.
