Halo: Reach leaked

Halo: Reach fans have been urged to "go dark" following the leak of the Xbox 360 exclusive onto the internet weeks before its official release.

Moderators of the US studio's forum issued the warning after a hacker group claimed to have obtained the game from Microsoft's own website.

"Posting to Discuss, Request, or Link To information or campaign spoilers from illegitimately obtained sources - including illegitimately obtained copies of Halo: Reach - before the game is officially released will be considered a leak and will be treated as such," moderators said on Bungie's forum.

"The moderation team is doing their best, but if you want to stay 100 per cent spoiler free, our best advice is to 'go dark' by staying off all internet gaming forums until you have played through the game!"

Halo: Reach, due out 14th September, was made available to download by reviewers from the official Xbox Live Marketplace website.

The 7GB download is priced at 99999 MS Points (£856.66).

The hackers apparently bypassed Microsoft's security and acquired the science fiction shooter.

Microsoft will no doubt be seething that the Xbox 360's biggest Christmas exclusive is playable ahead of its release despite the hackers' promise that they're "not really planning" to release the title publicly on the internet.

Somebody obviously planned to: the game is currently available on file sharing sites.

"We are aware of claims being made regarding a security exploit related to Halo: Reach and are aggressively investigating the matter," a spokesperson told IGN.

"We have no further details to share at this time."

there's your problem -makin it available for download i mean who's to say tthese companys dont have hackers working for them, all it takes is a hacker to start working for them, get to review a game and "bingo" game hacked and made available to everybody

The ending has now been leaked (as expected) on numerous sites.  I haven't read them, just seen the links and i'm obviously not going to post them here either, just letting folks know.   :)

The same thing will no doubt happen when Black Ops and Gears 3 are about to come out to, a mate of mine had finished MW2 almost 3 weeks before it's official release date but he didn't spoil the ending.

Good. It's bang out of order, some games companies are struggling as it is without people playing pirated games before release. If you can't afford a new release game then wait until it go's cheap pre owned - that's what i and most others do. If you simply can't wait for release to play a game then it's simple, grow up and wait like the rest of us!! With ds games it's different because they aren't worth the money, (well very few are), but 360 games usually have hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of dollars/pounds spent on making them and hundreds upon hundreds of man hours and usually they ARE worth the money, and like i said if you can't afford them just wait until they go cheap. Hell when me and fusioness were flat broke a couple of years back we simply didn't buy any new release games and it didn't affect our lives in any negative way. I say they are lucky to just get a ban.

I'm modding my 360 soon, can't wait.   :)

LIAR! I know you would never do that, you love your 360 too much. Some would say a little 'too much', but not me.  ;D

It's true mate & i'll prove it once it's done.

if everyone modded their 360 and downloaded pirated games instead of buying them the games industry would go bust, then their would be no games to pirate. Thankfully not everyone will.

Failed

I like to buy games and own them and have them in my collection. I buy a lot of games new (but at cheap prices) therefore im supporting the industry w000p

...... i also run the 2nd hand games shop .... contributing to the downfall. with one hand we give and t'other take away!
