Free Arkham Asylum DLC Dated & Detailed

Eidos and Warner Bros today announced their upcoming "Insane Night Map Pack," coming this Thursday, September 17th, for free.

The map pack will feature two new challenge maps; "Totally Insane" and "Nocturnal Hunter."

"In the 'Totally Insane' FreeFlow Combat map, players will be tested to their fullest as scores of escaped lunatics bear down upon Batman as they make their escape through the asylum's secure records facility. These fast-moving foes will challenge all but the most practiced players, with quick reactions and expert timing needed to fend off wave upon wave of insane inmates, bent on taking down the Dark Knight."

"In the 'Nocturnal Hunter' Invisible Predator map, players take on a wholly different approach, practicing their predatory skills to remain in the shadows, utilizing the Arkham watchtowers and Batman's arsenal of gadgets to gain the upper hand on The Joker's army of goons patrolling below."

The Insane Night Map Pack is coming September 17th for free.

I've only played it for 20 minutes so far but it looks good so far  :)

I've played it for around an hour or so & apart some dodgy camera angles, it pretty much rocks.

I'd go along with that now too :)

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

Batman keeps fighting crime, even online!

Video games developer Eidos have come up with a novel way of catching users playing pirated copies of their game.

Players using illegal copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum have found that essential control functions in the game have been disabled, rendering it unplayable.

One user complained on the Eidos forum that there was a bug in the code, only to be told by the administrator that they had "a bug in your moral code".

The PC version of the stealth action adventure goes on sale later this week.

Players attempting to use the glide function within the game will find it disabled in pirated versions, resulting in the Batman character coming to an untimely end.

The protection system came to light when a user complained on the Eidos support forum saying:

"When I...jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding."

An Eidos community manager replied, saying the user had encountered "a hook" in the copy protection system, designed to "catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free".

"It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code," he added.

While Eidos did not want to spell out the mechanics of the copyright protection system, they did say that it was in place to deter hackers, although the fact the game is not yet on sale made this particular case of piracy somewhat obvious.

That's absolutely genius.

The phrase, "Give a man enough rope and he will hang himself" comes to mind.   ;)

I have a question. Last night I was playing Batman and an achievement popped up for solkving 10% of the Riddler puzzles... but as far as I can tell I didn't do anything! I'm obviously being really thick about this, but how the hell are you supposed to solve the riddler puzzles if you don't even know that re solving them (if that makes sense)?

I got the same achievement yesterday, i think it's more about collecting the Riddler Trophies than actually solving anything.

Oh, is that all.... it's not exactly clear is it?

Riddler's "riddles" consist of all of the following ...

Answering the riddles (ie.  taking scans/photos of various items)
Destroy the chattering teeth
Find all the stone plaques (ie.  Spirit of Arkham backstory)
Collect every audio interview
Find all question marks (ie.  the giant questions marks sprayed on the walls, on visible in detective mode)
Collect all the riddler trophies (ie.  the small green question marks)

For a detailed guide that helped me a ton in getting 100%, go to http://www.gamesradar.com/f/batman-arkham-asylum-riddler-guide/a-2009082614217603032

Kyuubi

It's not actually that hard getting all of the riddles etc, I've just completed it all again on hard this time and find that the fighting achievments are harder in fact.
On the riddle one of things you have to find is the Riddler map which tells you where all the places to solves riddles/chronicles/trophies are found (but not what they are so there is some small challenge still)
You're going to find it harder on the combat and predator challenges if honest I reckon.

As for the DLC...awesome news! I can't wait!!

OK, I'm obviously being dumb, how do you take scans/photos of items? And how do you know if you've "found" the giant question marks. I know I found one but nothing happened to confirm I had (if that makes sense).

I haven't even been looking for the giant question marks, found a couple while looking for other stuff but that's about it, i've destroyed all the chattering teeth so far, found 5 or 6 stone plaques, quite a few audio tapes & loads of the Riddler Trophies, i think i'll try for all the riddles on the next playthrough.

The "Giant Question Marks" only visible in detective mode are probably the hardest of all riddles.

While detective mode is activated, you'll probably notice a large glowing green "portion" of a question mark.

Example:

The point of the riddle is to piece together the entire question mark by use of your line of sight.  Once you have the right perspective, and the pieces of the question mark form together to look like an actual question mark, hold LB until your screen flashes.  That's how you "scan".

After you beat the game and the credits roll, you're placed back on the island to free-roam.  This is the best time (intentionally) to collect any riddles you missed while playing the campaign.

If you start a new game, you'll have to recollect the riddles you already found during your first playthrough.
