In a recent preview Shacknews made it sound pretty mediocre.

Getting descriptions like that remind me of why I enjoyed "Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard" - which itself was a sarcastic poke at Duke. Call it nostalgia or the charming ability of a game to not take itself too seriously. I'm not sure this is going to be a game for anyone who hasn't played or even been exposed to its predecessor, but I'm personally looking forward to it.

The journalists made Eat Lead sound mediocre and it was, but i still had a great time playing it!

It seems to me like they always struggle to find something worthwhile to put in the CEs.

Dice?  Poker chips?  "Paper craft"???

It looks like they took all of the old publicity swag they made for the past 10 years of DNF reincarnations out of storage and dumped it into a box.  I bet if any of that stuff has a manufacturing date on it, it will be earlier than 2007.

Failed

The legend book looks good though!

Duke Nukem Forever's "Capture The Babe" Mode Has A Spank Button

Duke Nukem Forever wants to push your buttons. Take the game's "Capture the Babe" multiplayer mode, which ditches the traditional flag as object of desire for a woman, one who will "sometimes freak out" and need a gentle "reassuring slap."

That's according to the latest issue of OXM, which describes Duke Nukem Forever's four multiplayer modes that feel ripped from the 90s. They're variations on deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag and king of the hill modes, only with Duke-ified names—"Team Dukematch," for example—and that aforementioned babe smacking.

The issue calls Capture the Babe mode "pretty much what you'd expect from a CTF-style mode with one small touch: the Babe will sometimes freak out while you're carrying her [...] at which point you have to hit a button to gently give her a reassuring slap," but assures readers "it's more goofy than offensive."

Considering the rest of the game's content, which includes first-person pissing, double blowjob references, dildo vibration physics and sapphic shoolgirls, we're not surprised.

According to the PR firm for developer Gearbox Software, that "slap" is done directly to the keister of one's captured babe, presumably slung over the shoulder of your multiplayer Duke avatar, not a potentially more offensive location.

The rest of DNF's multiplayer, supporting up to 8 players at once, seems full of familiar Dukeisms, like the ability to grow tall or shrink, wear jetpacks and take steroids while fighting other players who also look like Duke Nukem.

Remember that fun game where your friend/sibling would ask you to get in their car, and then as soon as you reach for the car door they pull forward a few feet?
