Read about this yesterday, people seem to quite like the idea. I think it's a good money spinner, i don't 'plan' on buying anything but if they released Cloud's Buster Sword ... who knows!

I 'demo'ed the pets last night.  They are teh lame.

Most of the pets simply walk around your legs one time, lay down, then disappear.  Your avatar doesn't handle them in any way.  The animation honestly lasts no more than 10 seconds.

The stupid Halo eyeball thing lasts much longer ... and it was free.  I think the most entertaining of the pets was probably the monkey, but that's because the little animation makes me think the monkey is going to freak out at any second and rip my Avatar's arms off.
