I know a few of you use Love Film on here, I've been sent a free 30-day trial, before I sign up could someone give me the basics of how it works and, most importantly, how much it'll cost me once my 30-day trial runs out.

i've been using Lovefilm for just over 2 years now & it's pretty simple.

Once you've signed up to the appropriate package, you'll need to create a rental list, just type in a movie/game in the search box then click add to list or reserve if the title isn't out yet, you'll need to add at least 10.
You can set each title to high, medium or low priority, obviously the high ones are sent out first.
Lovefilm will then pick one of the titles & send it first class, when you've finished with it, return it in the pre-paid envelope & once Lovefilm havfe received it they will allocate another disc to be sent to you, simple 

The package i'm on is £15 a month which is for 2 discs at a time & unlimited rentals within that month, i've got two rental lists, one for films & one for games.

I'm with TescoRental (on and off) and they are the same as LoveFilm, i even get LoveFilm discs. Game rental is only good to play games that are old or that you ever thought, wow that looks good, but i aint gonna pay for it.

Don't expect Assassins Creed 2 or Modern Warfare!

I saw soemthing on the site about being able to pay with a pay as you go option, I may opt for that to begin with and see how much I use it. I wouldn't use it for film rentals, I hardly ever watch filsm any more and if I do I normally wait for them to come down in price and pick them up from Asda for £5 etc.

I didn't spot your post initially, that's a bit crap, didn't realise that. I wouldn't expect them on release day, but could i not get, say Borderlands, now that it's been a few months since release?

i always put new/upcoming releases on my rental list, it's pretty much hit & miss what game you''ll get, in 2 years i've managed to get 2 games the day after release, Lego Batman and the new Ashes game

On the web site before signing up it's talking exclusively about film hire, is there a seperate section for game rental or is it all the same thing, it's a bit confusing, especially since I wouldn't be using it for hiring films.

Once you sign up you have to change the package to add the games, thats what i did, i'm just looking on the help section on the site but cant find anything

No worries Craig, I'll probably take the free trial and see how I get on. As long as you can cancel at any time I'll be happy

i think i used the free trial, then changed the package once i had to start paying, i'll have a proper look again & post any info i find

Can I change my tariff during my free trial?
It is not possible to do this online as it could result in you being charged and losing the remainder of your free trial. However, if you contact the Customer Service team, they will be happy to do this for you.

so you can change it but start paying straight away or wait till the trial ends and then change

I've just got a couple of 2 months free cards from Lovefilm through the post (they always send them to give out as Christmas gifts) so if anyone would like one just PM me, they expire on 31/03/10 so theres plenty of time to use them
