What is Lovefilm? Is it like Netflix?

It's like Netflix and GameFly had a baby, and didn't get put out of business.

I was just thinking of signing up for Love Film, but as far as I can tell the 30 day trial period doesn't include game rental, just for DVDs only. I'm not really bothered about film rentals so can someone who's already a member tell me how it works please?

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

You can trial any of the Lovefilm packages on offer then once the free trial is over you can reduce down to something manageable.

Basics are:
  - subscription based rental
  - monthly fees based on the number and type of rentals per month (eg. I pay £14.99 for DVD & Games, 2 discs at any one time, unlimited per month)
  - you can prioritise the rentals you get into high, medium and low to help you get the films/games you really want first
  - they supply the returns envelopes with the rental

I've been with them for years now, never had a problem with any part of the service.  Would reccommend.

If you root about you on google you should be able to find a three month free trial code somewhere.

Thanks Luke, I've signed up for the standard 14 Day trial period because I have no real interest in hiring films, I only want it for games. I've just added two films to my list. Can you tell me what "Games only" subscriptions there are?

I pay £10.00 per month for games only, i am allowed up to 4 games a month and i can keep each game for as long as i want/need. I usually only manage to get through two games a month though, but even that is still a lot cheaper/better than paying £6.99 per game rental at blockbuster and only keeping them for 7 days. Hope this helps marty  :)

£15 a month for me for both films and games, two at a time and unlimited during the month, films I tend to keep for a day or sometimes send back the same day, games obviously for a few days longer, the longest i've kept a game is just over a week and that was because I didn't play the rental because of Gears 2 25x XP.   :)

my god if i only kept rentals for a few days i would never have time to play my growing collection of bought games! Certainly explains why you have loads of games still in their wrappers though.  :)

Thanks for the info guys. I've stuck half a dozen films I'd like to see on the list, and will then probably switch to the £10 a month one for games only. :)

I have a question. Do Love Film send an extra rental as "compensation" if you have a faulty disc. My last rental of the month, Lego: Harry Potter, was faulty so I sent it back and they've re-dispatched it, plus they've sent Assassin's Creed II as well, despite not having any rentals left and despite also having a film rental at home still to watch. Have they screwed up?

no, they did this to me as well when CoD5 was dodgy. You get an extra rental.
