About f****ing time!

No movie
No revamped cartoon
Just a direct Transformer IP -> Videogame

Beautiful.  Although it sort of looks like they based the character models on the latest Transformer cartoon incarnation.  Hopefully that's only a coincidence and not a bad sign.

oh noes! it's a game based on a cartoon!

If only it was based on the excellent first movie (the animated one)! Then i could bounce around doing an 80's style guitar solo after i win the day!

I had to watch the ending, did a lil' air guitar solo for my dead homeboy autobots!

You got the touch, you got the power.
When all hells breaking loose, you'll be right there in the eye of the storm.

Shoulda been number 1!!

Transformers staying home for Transformers: War for Cybertron

The latest Transformers game, War for Cybertron, takes place before the Autobots and Decepticons arrived on Earth. As such, they have no concept of our Earth "trucks" and "awesome jets," and can only transform into ... things that look pretty much like trucks and awesome jets, but alien.

The teaser after the break introduces the setting for the new High Moon-developed title, and Game Informer promises more info on its constantly updating War for Cybertron hub page. If the new locale and exotic transformations don't grab you, think about this: all humans are millions of miles away from Cybertron, so unlike the movies, you'll actually get to see the Transformers in this game.

Transformers: War for Cybertron pre-order includes Shockwave or Demolishor

Playable versions of Decepticons Shockwave and Demolisher are part of Activision's pre-order bonuses for Transformers: War for Cybertron. Squishy humans who pre-order through Amazon will receive an unlock code for Demolishor, while GameStop customers receive a code for Megatron's cold and calculating companion, Shockwave. (Sorry, Amazon, there's just no competition here.)

The bonus codes are available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 deployments of the game. Wii's Transformers: Cybertron Adventures currently has no announced pre-order bonus.

Jazz Comes Late To The War For Cybertron Preorder Exclusive Party

It seems to me that you'd want to announce all of your retailer preorder exclusive items at the same time, to avoid shutting out one particular store, but here comes Jazz, ready to fight multiplayer battles for Best Buy customers.

Activision revealed Shockwave as the GameStop preorder bonus multiplayer character for Transformers: War for Cybertron back in February, which had me slip my local store a fiver on the spot. I wasn't too worried about Amazon.com's exclusive character, Demolishor, as I've never been fond of the character and still can't wrap my head around preordering a video game for delivery.

But this just isn't fair. Jazz? Jazz is one of my all-time favorite characters. I nearly cried during the first Transformers live-action movie, and he wasn't even the real Jazz!

Should I switch my preorder, risking dirty looks from my local GameStop manager, or suffer in silence, crying myself to sleep every night, cradling my G1 Jazz delicately in my arms?

Demolishor / Demolisher (Amazon)

Jazz (Best Buy)

Shockwave (GameStop)

Personally, I want them all.   ;D  If the preorder codes aren't inside the box, I may preorder from all 3 and return 2 of them (if I can't find codes on cheapassgamer.com).

If I end up having to settle for just one, I pick Shockwave.

They might come out as a DLC package .... well we live in hope  :)
