Mafia 2 coming before July 31, 2010

During the always thrilling Take-Two Interactive quarterly investors call this afternoon, the ever-elusive Mafia 2 received an almost, kinda sorta release date: Q3 2010. When applying Take-Two's Q3 dates to the Gregorian calendar that most folks on this planet use, we can infer that the game will arrive somewhere between May 1 and July 31. This isn't to say that the title is a shoe-in for release, though, with company CEO Strauss Zelnick saying the game is "scheduled to fall in our third quarter." Remember when Max Payne 3 was scheduled for release in Winter of 2009? Exactly.

PS3 secures exclusive Mafa II DLC

The first batch of downloadable Mafia II content will be exclusive to PlayStation 3, 2K Games has announced.

First-hand buyers will be supplied with a voucher to download The Betrayal of Jimmy for free. But buy second-hand and you'll need to spend £6.29.

Is this 2K Games' answer to EA's Project Ten Dollar?

The second batch of DLC - Jimmy's Vendetta - will be offered on all three Mafia II platforms: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The Betrayal of Jimmy shows the mob through Jimmy's eyes. He's the man the mafioso calls when a 'difficult' job needs doing. For Jimmy there are a "dozen" missions based around rampaging through the city causing loads of mayhem. Scores will be recorded and posted automatically to leaderboards.

Jimmy's Vendetta, meanwhile, follows Jimmy while he attempts to clean up other people's messes in new locales and missions. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Mafia II will be released on 27th August for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Looking forward to this, got it lined up as a b'day present.  Shame about the DLC, is it confirmed as an exclusive or timed exclusive?  I know it says exclusive in the text but you know how these things pan out.

Mafia II's Playboy centrefolds are totally uncensored
The ladies of Playboy bare all in 2K's upcoming crime shooter

Mafia II's collectible issues of Playboy magazine are totally uncensored, GamerZines can reveal.

While wandering around Empire Bay during a recent hands-on session with 2K's upcoming action shooter, we were taken aback by an image of a completely nude bunny girl popping up on screen after finding one of the collectible mags.

A mild distraction, to say the least, and one that will probably get many a teenage boy begging their parents to buy them a copy of the game when it comes out next month.

The game, unsurprisingly, has been certified as a BBFC 18.

It was announced back in March that 2K had signed a deal with Playboy to offer vintage issues of the magazine as an in-game collectible. What we didn't know was that the completely nude centrefold springs on screen whenever you pick one up, warts 'n' all.

Mafia II launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 27th.

tried it last night, shooting was good as was the driving but walking around feels finicky and leaves you feeling a bit dizzy due to the dodgy camera. It also seems to suffer from the same problem GTA IV had, in that there are 3 diners were you can buy food in the demo, but they all look exactly the same and have the same woman serving, same go's for the gas stations and probably the clothes shops too. It totally pulls you out of the game, as everything else is so realistic. You can also interact with loads of stuff, but it serves no purpose. Whats the point of turning the taps/shower/lights on and off? What's the point putting a dime into a juke box if you can't pick a song? What's the point in having loads of food/drink choices if they all do the same job? The cut scenes look amazing though, and the shoot out in the demo is spot on. The whole place screams 1950's americana too, and it's very atmospheric. Judging from the demo alone i still want the game, but i'm not gonna rush out and buy it on the day of release like i was before i played the demo. Hope this helps luke  :)
