Hamsters are pretty much loners and can get aggressive when provoked especially wild Syrian hamsters. Usually pet shop hamsters are Russian Dwarves (i think) ... they are usually a bit more friendly.

pet shop syrians are the most popular breed,as they are the most friendliest, russian dwarfs are also sold but tend to be a bit wilder

When I was about 5 years old, a pet hamster bit the tip of my index finger 1/2 off.

They had to glue my finger tip back on.

when i was 12 a hamster ripped a chunk out of finger and it went gangreen, i had to get it lanced.... if you've ever had anything lanced .... painful :/
