Treyarch now "100 per cent" Call of Duty

Treyarch studio leader Mark Lamia has affirmed that his team is now completely focused on Call of Duty.

"Treyarch is a 100 per cent Call of Duty studio and it has been for a long time now, long before any of [the Infinity Ward] events occurred. We focused all of our efforts on creating the best Call of Duty game we possibly can and what that meant is not working on anything else," Lamia told CVG.

"We are a multiple team studio and focusing on Call of Duty and Call of Duty gameplay meant focusing all of our teams on that. One result of this has been the formation of a dedicated multiplayer team inside Treyarch, which is something the studio didn't have for their past Call of Duty games, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War."

Treyarch most recently spun-off to make James Bond game Quantum of Solace, which was a bit rubbish.

For Call of Duty fans, however, this news of blinkered studio devotion - plus a dedicated multiplayer team - is welcome. And the fruits of that labour will be tasted in Call of Duty: Black Ops this autumn.

It's on my 'to play' list.  Read that the SP is pretty good too.

Looking forward to Black Ops.  At least Treyarch are committed to the community and dont just leave the game to hackorz and glitchers.

No co-op for Call of Duty: Black Ops' campaign

Though Call of Duty: Black Ops' Cold War setting is a new feature for the series, one element of the game will stay true to the franchise's norms: the game's campaign will only be a single-player experience. Speaking to MTV, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia explained, "single-player is the epic, cinematic, seat-of-your-pants thrill ride that you star in," while the game's cooperative offerings will be packaged in completely separate "unique co-op modes."

Sounds fairly reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2's Spec Ops missions, though Lamia quickly clarified that Black Ops' co-op mode will be "different" from that of the last game in the series. Could we possibly see more zombies added to the mix? Hopefully, we'll find out more when we check out the game at E3.

Eminem to feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops
Rapper to feature on game's soundtrack, making an appearance at this week's E3 party.

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature a track from Eminem's upcoming album 'Recovery'.

It's not clear in what capacity the track will feature - it could just appear during the closing credits for all we know - nor is it clear exactly how much involvement Eminem will have with the title, which is currently in development at Call of Duty: World at War studio Treyarch.

50 Cent famously voiced a character in last year's Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2. Could we see the same thing happen here?

Eminem also confirmed that he would be performing at Activision's E3 party later this week, which is reported to have cost the firm an estimated $6m to put on.

Of course, this isn't the first time Eminem has had anything to do with Call of Duty. The last Call of Duty title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was famously marketed using Eminem's 'Till I Collapse'.

Activision also announced that it had signed deals with other artists to appear in other titles due out this year, with Pharrell Williams' appearing on True Crime's soundtrack and David Guetta making an in-game appearance in DJ Hero 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops launches worldwide on November 9th on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii.

I like the fact you actually fly the Hind, no on rails crap here.  Looks better than MW2 did this time last year.
