Rumored 'Call of Duty: Vietnam' To Be More Story Heavy?

While not official, there have been several rumblings about Treyarch's next installment in the white hot Call of Duty franchise. Specifically, the current rumor is that Treyarch's Winter 2010 entry into the series will be based around conflicts regarding the Vietnam War.

Speaking with reliable sources, PlanetXbox360 has been able to uncover some more interesting bits of information on the upcoming shooter. Like with the past few Call of Duty titles, Treyarch has relied heavily on technologies and ideas introduced by series creator and producer of the CoD: Modern Warfare series. So like CoD:MW and CoDMW2, CoD: Vietnam will focus heavily on the story, specifically the struggles of each individual person in your squadron.

According to our source, similar to how the original CoD titles modeled themselves after the direction and pacing of movies such as "Saving Private Ryan", CoD: Vietnam will borrow from notable war films such as "Platoon", "Apocalypse Now", and "Full Metal Jacket".

We will have more information on Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty title.

Hopefully the rumours are turn out to be true, I'd love a COD Vietnam game, anyone else?

Good Lord.

I guess Treyarch is looking to get a piece of that 'controversy' buzz that Infinite Ward has been dominating.  At least it's not another WWII game.

Bloody Hell I have only just got over paying for the last one :P
Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

Excellent.  Just as long as they have "Paint it Black" as the theme tune, And a Russian roulette level.

Oh yes, it would be the first COD game to feature Vietnam & it's always been a popular war in other media, movies especially of course, I know theres been other 'Nam games but none with the COD seal of approval stamped on it.

Call of Duty: Vietnam is scheduled for release in November, according to CVG.
"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," a senior UK trade source told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas again, just as it has in the last two years. Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

No real surprises there but it's as good as an official confirmation for now, while the same source also added that the game would indeed be set in Vietnam.

One of my grade school science teachers was in the Vietnam War.  He was an awesome & funny guy, but sometimes he had "bad days".

During the "bad days" we knew not to joke with him.  He would usually go home early, but I always felt bad because I knew he showed up to work because he wanted to not sit at home all day.

I've been asking (sort of) for a decent Vietnam/Korean war game for ages. I hope they do venture down that route and not try and gloss it up at all.If they can depict the real horrors that they endured it would open even some sceptics eyes.
Also,we can see how our cousins over the Atlantic really fucked it up!  :P

let's hope it's not as bad as Call of Duty WaW
