Black Ops - how to unlock Zork

Dead Ops Arcade isn't the only secret game to be buried in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
It's now been discovered that old school text adventure Zork is hidden in Black Ops too.

By mashing the left and right triggers to break free from the chair in the main menu, you then have to unlock Dead Ops Arcade by entering DOA in the computer terminal. You then have to repeat the process, this time entering zork.

Not particularly complicated but in the era of everything being on YouTube, so is this. So here you go!

Black Ops sets new sales records

Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 5.6 million copies in the US and UK combined - in one day. That's more than Modern Warfare 2's opening record of 4.7 million copies.

Those sales generated $360 million for Activision. Modern Warfare 2 only made $310 million, scoff.

"There has never been another entertainment franchise that has set opening day records for two consecutive years and we are on track to outperform last year's five-day global sales record of $550 million," commented Activision's Bobby Kotick.

"The game's success underscores the pop culture appeal of the brand. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the finest game that Treyarch has ever made and raises the bar for online gameplay by delivering the deepest and most intense Call of Duty experience yet.

"The Call of Duty franchise has over 25 million players around the world that are engaged in billions of hours of online gameplay, and we are committed to supporting them with new content and features on a more frequent and regular basis."

Black Ops obliterates UK sales record

Call of Duty: Black Ops sold a whopping 1.4 million copies in its first day on sale in the UK.

That's the biggest UK day one performance ever – it sold 14 per cent more units than Modern Warfare 2 did during its first day on sale.

Let's put that day one sales figure into perspective. Namco Bandai's Enslaved has sold 800,000 units worldwide. MTV Games' Rock Band 3 sold 7386 units for the week ending 30th October in the UK. Microsoft's Xbox 360 exclusive Fable III sold 129,000 units in the UK during its first week on sale.

Figures released by UKIE/GfK Chart-Track to MCV reveal revenues of £58 million.

Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 sold 1.23 million units on day one, generating £47.7 million.

Treyarch's Black Ops enjoyed the biggest entertainment launch of all time across the US and UK, according to Activision, selling 5.6 million units combined day one and generating $360 million.

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, one of 2010's biggest hits, sold in 6.9 million units worldwide during its first three months on sale.

When Activision's financial year ends, how many Black Ops units will have been sold?

Treyarch have announced that they are aware of issues with the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops. In a post on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops forums, they listed the fixes that had already gone live, and fixes that are still in progress:

Quote from: Someone Important from Treyarch
We are listening to you and we've been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info.

LIVE FIXES

- Villa: User can clip into rock at west edge of grid zone B2 and see through to the other side
- Crisis: User can clip into LVT between grid zone A3 and B3 and see through to the other side
- User can get an infinite number of 'Sam Turret', 'Care Package' and 'Sentry Gun' killstreaks (commonly referred to as the "care package glitch")
- Radar sweep when there are only 2 players left in One in the Chamber will stop functioning if the 2 players have multiple lives when the sweep starts
- Crash when viewing content (films, clips, etc) in the Community & Recent Games menu
- Users' rank and stats can get wiped under very specific conditions
- Online number counts were not updating properly; these are now reporting exact online numbers
- Parties getting disbanded when host did not find a match quickly

IN PROGRESS

- Improved matchmaking to find matches faster
- Improved match and host selection; will result in much better networking conditions for all games (a.k.a., decreased lag)
- Weekly and Monthly leaderboards stats reporting incorrectly for kills, deaths and assists (All Time leaderboard not affected by this)
- Additional improvements to party system

As of yet, there is not a release date for the remaining fixes. It is good to see that Treyarch are reacting to the input of the COD: Black Ops community though.

What actually is Dead Ops and Zorc??? not kept up on this one......

Failed

Dead Ops is a topdown twinstick shooter (a lot like the XBLA release Zombie Apocalypse)

Zork is a ye olde text based adventure.

Both have achieves, Dead Ops has a few infact. You break out your chair on the main menu using LT and RT to wiggle your arms free, head to the computer terminal behind you and enter DOA for Dead Ops and Zork for Zork...

Also once you've unlocked Dead Ops you can access it from the Zombie Menu.

Black Ops sold how many this week?

In one week, Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold an unprecedented two million copies in UK shops.

GfK Chart-Track totted earnings from those sales at £81.9 million.

Black Ops sales were 13 per cent higher than those of Modern Warfare 2 (1.8 million) and the new game made 21 per cent more money (£67.4 million).

To put things into perspective, that £81.9 million figure represents more money than the entire UK all-formats chart made in the past two weeks combined.

Call of Duty: Black Ops launched the same week as Microsoft's Kinect. Between them (and all other videogame software), the money-take this week was a record-setting £113.8 million. Christmas week of 2008 had held the record until now.
