Comic Book Thread
« on: January 16, 2010, 07:15:48 PM »
DC Comics has announced it is working on a weekly series based on Sony Online's upcoming massively multiplayer game DC Universe Online.

DC Comics executive editor Dan DiDio revealed that DC Universe: Legends will be set in the same world as the game.

He told IGN that writers Tony Bedard and Dan Jurgens were already on board the project and he expected Marv Wolfman, who has helped Sony develop the game, to be involved on some level.

DiDio said: "Well, there are a number of things that are going to go on. First, we're going to set up the conceit of the universe, how it works and what the rules are.

"We'll also be trying to work gaming tips and secrets into the body of the book as we move along in the series. You'll see a lot of support material including turnarounds and designs that went into the actual building of the game.

"What I think is the most exciting thing is that, if everything is working as well as we hope once we get down the line, characters that players create actually have an opportunity to work their way from the game into the comics themselves."

DC Universe Online and DC Universe: Legends are due for release sometime this year.

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

This could be interesting seeing as DC are flying higher than Marvel (IMO) at the moment with Blackest Night being a massive event in the DC world and Brightest Day soon to kick off for a year long stint!

Before people say it too, yes I know I'm a comic book geek.......

Dude!! I spoke to my friend who owns his comic shop and he can do postal for you, HOWEVER (!!!!!) your local comic store is only about 10-15 mins away for you (at a guess).

Ben suggested that there is a comic store call Biff Bang Pow which may still be running so I rang them to find out.

They are based in Video Syncratic which is on Cowley Road and have 2 years back issues on comics, a full run on Marvel and DC (plus a few others I reckon) and plenty of stuff like graphic novels etc.

They also have a reservation service if you wanted too.

Worth a look at perhaps for you?? Hope this helps.

Turns out that when they got rid of all the VHS stuff they had they filled the space with comics and branded their own store for it.

Enjoy and happy to have helped! :)

I love my local comic shop.

I go there about 2 times per month and buy a small stack of comics.  I honestly haven't even read a comic since last Fall (old man Logan), but I plan to catch up on some series this Spring / Summer.  And I like to help keep the shop in business.

If you like DC as well as Marvel you really need to read the Blackest Night Story which is currently going on, very good indeed!

Not yet as it's not finished it's complete run yet, I think there are either 6 or 8 issues and we're on number 5.
