GOW Collection bundled with GOWIII SE

Sony has announced the God of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition for PS3 in Europe.

It's similar to the American "Ultimate Edition", but better, because it also includes more downloadables and God of War Collection in addition to God of War III and all the other special edition goodies.

God of War Collection, of course, is the excellent high-def Blu-ray revival of the original PS2 God of War games, which received considerable applause on import.

The GOWIII Ultimate Trilogy Edition has yet to be dated or priced, but information should be released "in the next few weeks" according to the official PlayStation blog.

When the bundle does come out it will do so in "limited quantities" for "most European countries, Australia and New Zealand", and at the same time as the standalone God of War III.

As you can see from the pic below, it comes in an extremely fetching sculpted Pandora's Box, inside which lurk the game discs and various goodies: the trilogy soundtrack, a Blood and Metal EP inspired by the series, and loads of download codes.

Those should net you an "Unearthing the Legend" documentary, a Combat Arena (new environment with seven challenges), and Dominus, Apollo, Phantom of Chaos and Forgotten Warrior character skins.

Not content with that, there's an artbook and even some postcards stuffed in the box, so you can write to your friends and tell them how foolish they were not to pre-order.

God Of War III has been given a North American release date.

Sony's mythical hack-and-slash sequel will be released on March 16.

While a specific date has yet to be confirmed for Europe, the publisher will aim to launch in the region in the same week, according to EU PlayStation Blog.

The title was given a March release date at E3 2009 and entered beta-testing before Christmas.

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

A demo for God Of War III could arrive next week.

From today, pre-orders of the title at retailer GAME will come with a download code allowing early access to the demo from PlayStation Network.

The small print has mentioned that the early demo access will "no longer be exclusive" to the retailer as of February 25, suggesting a public release from that date.

God Of War 3 'not the end of the series'
Developer Sony Santa Monica says third instalment is not a full stop

It's the news any right-thinking PS3 owner anted to hear: Sony's Santa Monica Studio has revealed that God Of War 3 is "not the end" for the hugely popular franchise.

Despite saying that the end of GoW III won't leave fans with a "cliffhanger", producer Steve Caterson said the title was not a full stop for the series.

"Well, God of War III is the end of the trilogy," he told IndustryGamers. "We didn't leave you on a cliffhanger but I think it's not the end of the franchise. I'm looking forward to do something different if we can.

"It also might be nice to return to the franchise if we can and bring all that knowledge back from wherever we go. Anything's possible. It's premature to say what it might be, since I don't even know what I'll be doing next week."

The Official PlayStation Magazine's God Of War 3 review awarded the game 9/10.

I could rent the God of War Collection on PS3 first as I don't have a PS2, if it ever gets released over here, it includes both GOW 1 & 2 on the one blu-ray disc, then if I like it I can try 3, might give the demo a go too.

supposedly the graphics are a little nicer too on the PS3 double pack. Truly though, i rate the God of War's as one of the greatest games i've ever played and i've played alot!

i wouldn't go anywhere near that if you have any inclination to play the game, the first 2 games had massive plot twists and one of the strongest points to the games were the actual stories. You'll definately ruin the game if you loo at it :)

The story in 1 and 2 is awesome.

I hear it's the best Action game ever made.  Aside from one notorious puzzle, the game is "perfect".

I look forward to playing it eventually.  I don't want to buy any more PS3 games until I finished the 360 games crowding my shelf.   :(

I did recently make friends with a coworker that just bought a PS3.  Maybe if he buys it I'll just borrow it from him.   ;D

I've just finished it. It's a great game, but it's not much of a step up from GOW2 to be honest.
