Shenmue III
« on: January 29, 2010, 07:48:36 AM »
Its not much but its the best news I have heard all day

Famitsu 360 just put out it's annual Japanese developer interview issue.  For the developer issue, Famitsu polls developers to see what their upcoming plans for the Xbox 360 are, which by extension, usually ends up pertaining to PS3 owners as well.

In this year's issue, Sega talked a bit about the oft-requested Shenmue follow up.  It's a title they still think a lot about doing, however, sales are a factor.  Neither of the previous games sold well, so Sega is hesitant about returning to the franchise.  They reassure fans, though, that if there is an opportunity to revisit the franchise, they would love to do it.

Sounds like Sega is hoping that one of the platform holders fund it, perhaps in return for an exclusivity deal.

 :D :D :D

I love Shenmue  :)

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

I  dont care as long as they make it. Its the only thing that will really make me want a PS3  :)

I just read an article thing on the first dead rising and whoever wrote it is a dick. They wrote the following "If anything, the game is a lot like Shenmue. West has a 72-hour window to take some great photos, save as many people as possible, kill zombies and hunt down assorted crazy normal people, but how you progress is really up to you. "

Admitidly I haven't played that much of Dead Rising but I cant see the link between Shenmue and Zombies :-\

You see right through me Tara  :)
Yes I have played Shenmue, it was a good game, I can see why people love it & I can also see why it was a failure sales wise, I know they are two different games but i'd rather play Dead Rising if given the choice, much more fun for me.

I never played Shenmue, but I thought Dead Rising was mediocre at best.

Dead Rising had a lot of cool ideas, but in practice they never really came together. The saving system was brutal, trying to rescue people was an exercise in total frustration, and the psycho boss fights were too hard and random. And I couldn't read any of the text in the game on my small tv screen.
Your mom!

I think the avarage videogame consumer is much more savvy and appreciative of a good game than they were in 2001.

Gaming has come a long way, and I think Shenmue could find a proper audience if given the chance.  They need to give Shenmue 1 & 2 an HD makeover and re-release on XBLA (or maybe a collection on retail disc).  When those sales prove we deserve a Shenue 3, Sega won't hesitate to greenlight it.
