BAFTA has revealed the shortlist for this year's games awards, which includes multiple nominations for Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.
The final judgement is in the hands of BAFTA's judging panel, with the exception of the GAME award which is voted on by the public. Last year CoD 4 won it thanks to dubious entry criteria; the sequel is probably going to walk away with this year's award but feel free to rock the vote at the BAFTA site.

Uncharted 2 dominates BAFTA Awards

Batman: Arkham Asylum shocked the BAFTA Video Game Award 2010 audience by winning Best Game - a trophy expected to fall to Uncharted 2. The Rocksteady-developed superhero game also took Best Gameplay.

Naughty Dog's superb action game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves didn't miss out, however, and took home four one-eyed golden face trophies - the most of any game.

Uncharted 2 scooped Best Action Game, Best Use of Audio, Best Original Score and Best Story. Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra were on hand to cart the trophies home. They thanked their families and loved ones for putting up with the long hours they had to put in.

FIFA 10 took home two trophies, one for Best Sports Game and one for Best Use of Online.

Wii Sports Resort was considered the Best Family & Social game, and Best Handheld Game was LittleBigPlanet PSP. Empire: Total War scooped Best Strategy Game.

Left 4 Dead 2 was voted Best Multiplayer Game, and Batman: Arkham Asylum was considered to have the Best Gameplay.

Artistic Achievement was given to Flower and the public-voted Game Award of 2009 went to Modern Warfare 2, with Assassin's Creed II in second place and Uncharted 2 in third.

BAFTA Ones to Watch was Shrunk! by The Butterflyers.

And, of course, Shigeru Miyamoto was honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship for his staggering lifetime's achievement in videogames.

Batman should recieve something, it was so great!

AC2 should win and so should COD: MW2  ;D

knikki91

Batman was a greeat game and ACR was also a well developed game obviously the success of the first one plus maybe the dev team listerned to the complaints and produced a brilliant sequel.

However I do nthink MW2 should get any award simple because it was not a revamped game or anything else. It was more of a heavley patched (and some would say it broke online) Modern Warfare.

GamerMan316

MW2 only won one award, GAME Award of 2009, it didn't win any online awards, so Failed will be pleased, that went to L4D2 & FIFA10, surprisingly Assassin's Creed II didn't win anything.

Batman, Battlefield, Skyrim make BAFTA GAME Award shortlist

Heavy hitters Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim have made the BAFTA GAME Award shortlist.

It is the UK's only publicly-voted award at the British Academy Video Game Awards.

A panel of industry experts, including Eurogamer's own Johnny Minkley, bashed their heads together to come up with the list of candidates, reproduced below.

    Batman: Arkham City
    Battlefield 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
    FIFA 12
    L.A. Noire
    Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    Minecraft
    Portal 2
    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Tough choice! I'm still playing Batman, which makes it harder. Skyrim maybe? But then BF3 is also amazing. ....and Batman has been wicked fun. Man. ;D

mackem73

because of Skyrim's unbelievable awesomeness I've only actually played one other game on the list, so a pretty easy vote for me!
The Quinny magic carpet ride may have landed but the Red Flag will keep on flying high.

ShadowSnake

It'd have to be Skyrim closely followed by Batman IMO. only because Skyrim has much better replayability really

Windedprism

Skyrim after patches, no question.
Dark Souls should be on here.
Uncharted 3 is on but not Gears 3? holy cake Batman.

Give it to Batman though, the batcave is looking empty :)

Skyrim is the only game to have kept me EAGERLY entertained for 100 hours, and I could happily keep playing even now. I'll be surprised if it doesn't get it, honestly.
