Splinter Cell Movie Enlists Tom Hardy as Sam Fisher

I hate to invest any hopes in a videogame movie, but I really don't think Tom Hardy would sign onto a movie if it wasn't going to be above average.

Consider me hopeful... and also a supergay for Sam Fisher.   :-*

Zack Snyder Confirms Man of Steel Trailer Will Be Shown With The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Director Zack Snyder has confirmed that the trailer for Man of Steel will be shown with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Here is what he had to say…

On The Trailer: "It's fun. I can't wait for 'The Hobbit,' so it will be fun to see our crazy 'Man of Steel' trailer and then enjoy the Hobbit because that's going to be great," said Snyder. "It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action."

On Michael Shannon as General Zod: "I was just incredibly fortunate to play with those guys who really were giving all they had to bring a level of commitment to the scenes they have together so that audiences will get an opportunity to really have their heroes taken seriously. As serious as I was taking it, and I don't mean that from a depressing kind of way but from a, 'This is important and fun and needs to be given the respect that it deserves,' from that perspective it was so exciting to watch them drink the Kool-Aid of that concept and go all the way."

Star Trek Into Darkness Official Plot Synopsis Revealed

In a few weeks, we’ll know a lot more about J.J. Abrams’ sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, an anticipated film that â€" to date â€" has managed to fly under the radar. Oh, we know that most of the original cast is coming back. And we know that the amazing Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing an as-yet-undetermined villain. Paramount plans to unspool a 9-minute preview for Abrams’ film before IMAX presentations on Dec. 14. Audiences also will be able to see a traditional trailer in the 2D versions of the film. And now the studio is revealing an official synopsis.

Many have expressed interest in avoiding specific details about Star Trek Into Darkness< and if you’d like to stay that way, avoid this paragraph. It’s not spoilery, but it absolutely includes specifics you might not want to hear prior to the film’s release. For the rest of you, here’s the official plot synopsis for the next Star Trek film, directly from the studio’s Web site:
In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Abrams continues to explore Kirk (with Chris Pine in the role), painting him as a rebel and a bit of a loner who finds solace in this dysfunctional family aboard the Enterprise. You have to be intrigued by the promise of the crew returning home (as they once did in the aptly-titled Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home). But instead of bringing rare whales back to space, they’ll be hunting a threat (Cumberbatch) through the deepest reaches of the galaxies. It sounds fantastic. Now, we strap in and wait for those previews on Dec. 14.

According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in "Justice League" as the new Batman.

It'd be interesting to see where they go with this, if they decide to actually move away from Bruce Wayne, which as far as I know hasn't been done on-screen.

I was actually hoping for a Nightwing movie.

I'd actually buy that as a more natural progression - just wonder how many of the white haired execs at WB would scratch their heads and think...."Night Wha?? That's Not Batman!!"  #)

Hopefully I underestimate the machine that is Hollywood.

Plans for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" continue to be unveiled as director Bryan Singer's follow-up to "X-Men: First Class" takes shape. The latest news? Hugh Jackman could join the film as Wolverine.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jackman is in talks to reunite with Singer on the new film. This follows the announcement earlier this week that Patrick Stewart would be returning as Professor X and Ian McKellen would be back as Magneto. Both Stewart and McKellen sat out the previous "X-Men" installment, "First Class," and Jackman made only a cameo appearance.

Singer returns to the franchise after other directors made "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "First Class."

The "Days of Future Past" story line is one that's well-known to X-Men fans. It was a two-issue story written by longtime "X-Men" writer Chris Claremont in 1981 and was partially set in an alternative future where mutants were forced into internment camps, watched over by giant robots called Sentinels.

In the present day, the X-Men must work to stop a crucial event that triggers the anti-mutant hysteria that eventually leads to the dystopic future.

In 2001, a Marvel readers poll voted it the 25th most popular Marvel story of all time.

With Stewart, McKellen and Jackman (as well as Singer) returning to the film series, many fans hope to see this was a connector between the original "X-Men" and the prequel "First Class." Many actors from "First Class" are also returning, including Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.

Jackman is also playing Wolverine in next summer's "The Wolverine," which is a sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The X-Men films, it seems, are becoming as convoluted as the original comics.

Dane DeHaan confirmed as Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony opts for “brooding outsider” approach

Dane DeHaan has officially been confirmed as the new Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with the studio clearly opting for the “brooding outsider” approach to the character.

DeHaan was initially linked to the role before reports emerged claiming that Sony were looking for a more athletic, all-American take on the character. However, it seems that they’ve reverted to their first vision.

Norman Osborn has been a peripheral figure at this stage in proceedings, but depending on how Osborn Sr's story arc plays out, we could well see Harry become a villain, as was the case in Sam Raimi’s trilogy. Casting the intense DeHaan would certainly allow for that contingency.

“Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” said director Marc Webb, before DeHaan tweeted that, “to say I’m excited is an understatement.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx and Shailene Woodley have also been officially confirmed as Electro and Mary-Jane Watson respectively. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

The one thing I wish these trailers would stop doing is using that damn pulse "BWONG!!" sound effect in their soundtracks:
